SharonGuest
I’ve read the instructions for embedding forms and have a question.
I have a Form-A with a PDF-A and I also have a Form-B with a PDF-B. Both mapped with datasets and ready to go.
Form-A will never be submitted without a Form-B. However, Form-B may be submitted by itself. So if I embed Form-B into Form-A will I still be able to use Form-B as a stand-alone form?
Thanks.
adminKeymasterYes, each Field Map Layout can be used as stand-alone.
The Embedded Form function is designed to work with two forms and one PDF. But that does not stop you from mapping forms to other PDFs and merging them.
Let us know if you need more help with embedded forms, it’s a very flexible feature. We remain at your service.
SharonGuestSo since I have my mappings/dataset already created for Form B, when I embed it into Form, it will “bring” it’s dataset? Or will I have to “add another dataset”?
adminKeymasterGenerally speaking, the 2nd dataset function merges two formidable forms into one PDF form using two field map layouts.
We’ll be able to give better instructions if you provide a more detailed workflow, to include all forms, field map layouts and PDF forms.

BarbGuestHi There, I’ve been following these instructions at http://www.formidablepro2pdf.com/embed-form-second-dataset/ to try and make 2 field maps show up on a single PDF…but can’t get it to work.
I have created a form that I want to embed into two other forms – It’s a fair size, so instead of having to add all the same series of fields into two separate formidable forms, I’d like to be able to just change the ‘master’ once….The form I’m embedding isn’t something that will be submitted on it’s own. It will always be embedded into other forms.
Is there someone that could assist me? Happy to provide additional details if needed to login – Or if there’s additional documentation somewhere besides the link above that would be great.
Thanks!
adminKeymasterHi! It’s a bit tricky, complete this form and provide the form names and field map layout names and we’ll make sure it works and tell you what needed to be changed. Then, we’ll update our documentation to make it easier to accomplish.
BarbGuestFantastic. I’ve submitted the information. Thanks again!
adminKeymasterYou are TOTALLY AWESOME! It was all setup correctly, the only reason it didn’t work is because your shortcode had field [2663] for dataset2, but the hidden field of the embedded form is [2662]. The main form does not require a hidden field ([2663]).
After double-checking everything, all I did was change 2663 to 2662 and everything works as expected! We will update the documentation with more detailed instructions (with images) to explain the hidden field setting.

BarbGuestoh man! I can’t believe it! (well, actually I can) – Seems just like something I’d do…
Thanks so much for this support – I would probably have never noticed! Fantastic!
Barb.
BarbGuestMe again – I just did a test and I see that when download the PDF from the link that shows after submission looks great, but when the form comes to my email address, the info on the second page isn’t filled. 🙁 Is there a way the form that comes through email can include all the info too?
I’d actually prefer not to have the ‘download’ link on the page at all, and have the PDF only emailed instead.
Possible?
adminKeymasterAwe, unfortunately emailing is currently limited to only one dataset, however, you can place the shortcode in the body of the email notification to provide a download link in the email to the pdf merged with both datasets.
Remove the shortcode from the On Submit message box if you don’t want the download link after form submit.
BarbGuestOh shoot! Alright – I hope this is something that will come in the future!
All good – thanks for all the help. 🙂
