Question about W-4 form demo.
Is this Formidable Signature legally acceptable in USA?I’m planning to use it for similar purpose(W-9 form)
adminKeymasterGreat question! The phrase “legally acceptable in the USA” is relative to the instructions or guidelines of the document or agency.
For instance, some documents/agencies may require “UETA/ESIGN compliant”, however, for the W-9 the signature is required to be from a system that “authenticates and verifies the submission“, which a WordPress user account accomplishes.
If you have more questions about the signature add-on plugin, open a support ticket on FormidablePro.com as they know their plugin, and its legality, much better than we do.
Ash FParticipantThank you.
Actually I already asked Formidable support and they said they just offer functionality so It’s up to me/government whether it’s acceptable.
Also I’ve read that IRS page before you tell me and it seems that this method should work.I just wanted second opinion.
Because I’m not sure if “UETA/ESIGN compliant” is required.adminKeymasterOur understanding is that, “UETA/ESIGN compliant” is only required when explicitly stated in the document’s electronic signing/filing instructions. However, only the lawyers really know… and they too argue about it.
We have been using Formidable’s signature plugin for all our tax forms and insurance client signatures since 2013, without any issues.
Ash FParticipantThank you.
That’s enough endorsement to use this method. -
