EvanParticipant
Hello,
Just made the switch to formidable forms from gravity forms due to the lookup function it offers as well as other advanced functionality.
Just purchased FP2PDF Yesterday however I am not having any success mapping the fields (mainly lookup) in my form to the PDF fields.
1. I am trying to use export, and have selected the form to extract the data from. It has 3 complete entries that i can import/export however in the “Select the dataset to export:” drop down it has all my entries as [empty] followed by date of submission.
Then at bottom I was able to map the data fields however this was only achievable once i manually typed the field names in manually, saved the field map and reloaded it. Then I had a full list of available from both the form and the pdf template.
Hopefully I am doing something simple wrong?
2. Is there any way to include a field name (eg. Student ID) as part of the emailed PDFs filename?
Any help greatly appreciated. I am on a pretty tight time-frame to get this system functioning, and really do not want to have to revert back to gravity forms…
EvanParticipantI’ve just had success with the lookup fields. Not sure what was happening however it just appears the initial creation of the field map is temperamental. Now that I have it created the correct fields etc. show up every time but every time I create a new one I have to go through the same process of once i manually typed the field names in manually, saving the field map and reloading it.
number 2 would be very handy!
adminKeymasterGreat news! Glad you were able map successfully.
Please elaborate on…“but every time I create a new one I have to go through the same process of once i manually typed the field names in manually, saving the field map and reloading it.
#2: You may accomplish this functionality by using the shortcode in the body of the email with the filename parameter, rather than ‘attaching’ the pdf to the email. The shortcode may be dynamically changed for each entry, offering far more control over the final PDF, than does the automatic attachment function’s global settings.
Global PDF filename may be set using the “PDF file name in e-mails:” option in the field map layout, however, this function is not dynamic for each entry.
EvanParticipantI’ll get a screencast to you shortly and how you what I mean.
Another problem I am having, when trying to write the user id into a form all i am getting as a digit.
e.g. in the field when I fill in the form a number “1” appears as the output. When my newly created user enters it, the number “2” appears as the output in the field.
I have tried both having a user id (hidden) field on my form, and the Formidable: User ID option but both return the same value. I have checked the value in the entries and show the user as it should.
Cheers,
EvanadminKeymasterThe user ID question is one for the Formidable Forms plugin (https://formidablepro.com/help-desk/), but it sounds like the UserID is working correctly, you’ll need to use the UserID shorcode like this if you want to show the username instead of the ID: [125 show=”user_login”]. More information is here: https://formidablepro.com/knowledgebase/shortcodes/#kb-userid-shortcodes

EvanParticipantWhat are the requirements for a PDF filename?
I have been trying to a file generate as “Doe, Jane – 166666.pdf” based off data in a field however it keeps on cutting it off at Jane so all i get to download is Doe.pdf
I have just tried “Jane Doe 166666” but all i get with that is Jane.pdf
any help appreciated.
Cheers,
EvanEvanParticipantI’ve just had success with “Jane_Doe_166666” but I would still appreciate any limitations to filename that I can use. Obviously I cannot have a space in the filename atm…
adminKeymasterAvoid using special characters other than dashes, underscores, or spaces in the filename.

adminKeymasterFYI – We have added dynamic filename functionality to the Field Map Layout. You may now enter Formidable field shortcodes as well as static text into the “PDF file name in e-mails:” text box located just below the “Attach file to Email notifications” option on each field map layout.
Update your plugin to acquire the functionality. We remain at your service.
